Role of Stress in Hair Fall

Research has shown that stress levels do impact the health of your hair which is why it is important to accommodate stress busting activity in your fast paced lifestyle.

Here’s what your can do...

  • Managing time – You must learn to manage the limited time at your disposal. Planning the days activities and sticking to a schedule can help regulate ones lifestyle.

  • Getting proper sleep - Eat a light snack to avoid feeling hungry at night, don't eat a heavy meal late at night. Getting proper and regular sleep is essential to prevent tiredness and increase efficiency of the individual.

  • Eat a healthy diet - Eat plenty of vegetables and fruit and less junk foods and sugars. Fad diets help people loss weight while they are on the diet but they do not stay on the diet the rest of their lives so they return to their usual diet and gain the weight back. A well-nourished and fit body can be more resilient to stressful conditions. Many illnesses induce stress and stress too induces eating disorders, addiction to alcohol and substance abuses. Hence, a planned and nutritious diet can act as an effective stress-fighting tool.

  • Prioritize Your Tasks - Prioritizing the tasks on hand can help reduce the challenges in completing them. Putting time and energy to important tasks and breaking a big task into smaller steps makes things easier. When one finishes one thing at a time and is able to meet one's responsibilities in time, it results in a calmer lifestyle.

  • Exercise Regularly - Exercise, participate in a sport or engage in fun activity. Exercise helps promote better health and physical fitness which causes the body to function better. Exercise helps decrease harmful effects of stress (reduces stress hormones) and releases hormones which promote a sense of better well being. Before starting an exercise program do consult with your doctor to make sure your body can handle the exercises you plan to do.

  • Learn to relax - Work hard but know when to take time off to be with the family, go to the beach, or read a book. This allows stress tension to go away and helps you calm the heart's pace and digest food normally, and protect your immune system. Learn to meditate and take deep breaths to calm down.

  • Talk It Out - Confide or speak to a close relative/friend about the issues that you are facing. Talking about your problems to a close one will enable you to share and come up with probable options to solve your problems. Talk about your problems, don't hold it in.

  • Pursue a hobby - or something you like to do. Mark out some time for yourself every day to do an activity that really interests you. Read a book, watch TV, go out with friends and spend time doing things you really enjoy.

  • Meditate - A variety of other activities like yoga and meditation can aid in combating stress. Sitting quietly in a relaxed comfortable posture, closing your eyes and just watching your breath - inhaling and exhaling calms the mind and brings on a definite sense of well-being. In time it can help counter the effects faced by your hair.
